DORIS PEARL BUCHANAN
 Suddenly at Almonte on Wednesday, September 27, 2000, Doris Pearl Buchanan of Almonte,
Ont., and formerly of Winnipeg, age 88 years.
     Beloved daughter of the late Alwyn Buchanan and his wife the late Elizabeth Johnson; predeceased by two sisters, Mrs. Velda Burrell and Mrs. Fern McQuarrie and by two brothers, Calvert and Ivan; loved aunt of Mrs. Betty Preston (Ernie) of Almonte and Mrs. Sandra Beyak (John) of Burlington and by two great-nieces and two great-nephews as well as one great-great-niece and two great-great-nephews.
     Cremation. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service in the chapel of the C.R. Gamble Funeral Home, 127 Church St., Almonte, on Saturday, September 30, at 11:00 a.m., Rev. S. EDNA MARGARET BUCHANAN
On February 25, 1998 at Third Crossing Manor, Gladstone, Man., Edna Margaret Buchanan passed away. Edna was born to Charles and Mary Patterson on August 12,1910 in the Grassy River district of Manitoba. She married Vinton Buchanan in November, 1938 and together they farmed in the Plumas district unti11977.
Edna was predeceased by her husband Vinton in 1977; a granddaughter in 1981 a son-in-law in 1992, her mother and father, sister Eunice and brother Lloyd. She leaves to mourn her passing, daughters, Mary Smith, Jean (Barry) Milton, Bea (Al) Jarvis, Pearl (Norm) Hogarth, Laura (Ed) Loomis; sons, Bill (Esther) and Norman (Angila);17 grandchildren and l6 great-grandchildren. She also leaves sisters, Clara, Myrtle, Hazel, and many nieces and nephews.
 Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Plumas United Church with Rev. Kent Gibbons officiating. Interment will follow in the Plumas Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Honourary pallbearers will be all in attendance.
Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of their choice.

IRENE BUTTERFIELD BUCHANAN
 Irene Buchanan, late of Canterbury Manor, Edmonton, passed away peacefully February 9, 1998 at the Glenrose Hospital.
She was born in McCreary, Manitoba and lived in High Prairie, Alberta as well as Edmonton. Irene, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was in her 94th year.
She is survived by her loving family, a daughter and son; Verna (Morris) Wilson and Gordon (Diane) Buchanan of Edmonton, granddaughters Donna Wilson, Sidney B.C.; Diane (Al Frado; Edmonton; Karen (George) Fraser, Sidney; Lois (Dave) Baroldi, Wanda (Rob) Wishart of High Prairie; Kim (Rod) Bobke of Edmonton; one grandson Greg (Donna) Buchanan of High Prairie.
 Missing her sadly are great-grandchildren, Jason and Jill Fletcher of Sidney; Jeff and Jodi Frado of Edmonton, Lisa and Davis Baroldi; Garret and Chelsea Buchanan; Brennan, Brett and Brook Wishart of High Prairie and Kaitlyn Bobke of Edmonton.
 Irene is also survived by her brother Lloyd (Valentine) Butterfield of McCreary; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Butterfield of McCreary; Jenn McLeod of Winnipeg; Don Buchanan of Regina; numerous nieces and nephews who were very close to her. She will be missed by many dear friends, especially Ethyl Stewart and family of Kelwood.
 Irene was predeceased by her husband Arnold in 1960, son Roy in 1954, daughter Leona in 1993, son-in-law Lloyd Poole in 1949, son-in-law Ken Murphy in 1968, and daughter-in-law Carmel in 1976.
 The funeral service was held on February 14 at St. Michael Anglican church, McCreary where Irene was the organist for many years. Interment was in the McCreary cemetery, memorial service and celebration of Irene's life will be held in April at St. Augustine's Anglican Church, Edmonton.
 If desired, donations may be made to St. Michael and All Angels church, McCreary, Manitoba, the Lung Association of Manitoba, or a charity of one’s choice.
 

IRENE PEARL (KASPRICK) BUCHANAN
 It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend at the Neepawa Hospital on November 17, 2000.
 Irene will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 44 years, Mac; daughter Kerry (Ken); sons Myles (Cathy), Randy (Val), Greg, Neal (Brenda); grandchildren Shawn, Stacey, Shantel, Bianna, Brett, Jannelle, Erika, Joel, Roxanne,  Josh and Shane.
 Also left to mourn are brothers Henry (Ev), Benny (Elsie), Jack (Margaret) Clancy (Joyce). She was predeceased by her father and mother Frank and Helen Kaspick, sisters Kay and Isla, father-in-law and mother-in-law Sanford and Avy Buchanan. Irene was born in Rosedale Municipality on March 16,1928, and spent her early years in the Neepawa area.
 After brief stops in Winnipeg and Deloraine, Irene and Mac resided in Shoal Lake, MB, for 40 years. They then retired in Neepawa where she and husband Mac spent 4 happy years enjoying their home, yard, bingo and Wednesday night bowling.
 Irene enjoyed cooking, baking and was known for her perogies, cabbage rolls and cinnamon buns. She cherished the time she spent with family and friends to whom she unselfishly gave all her time and energy. Irene would never say no to a game of cards and spent many late nights demonstrating her knowledge and skills. She was very proud of her home and yard and spent many hours with her husband beautifying her yard with flowers in summer and Christmas decorations in winter.
 The service was held on November 21, 2000, at the Neepawa United Church with Rev. George Cargo officiating. Pallbearers were Irene's nephews Andrew Hockin, Lindsay Kaspick, Garnett Kaspick, Ian Wilson, Dennis Kaspick and Bryan Kaspick.
 She will be forever in our hearts.
  To love a Mom and then to part

  A cherished smile, a heart of gold
  To the dearest Mother the world could hold
 Happy memories are treasured ever

JAMES BUCHANAN
It came with a great shock to the community on Sunday morning to learn of the death of Jas. Buchanan , who passed away Saturday night about 11o’clock. He was in his 69th year. On Tuesday, March 24 he was taken ill with pleurisy, from which he never recovered. He was a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Sam Buchanan, who with their family moved from Listowel, Ont to the Neepawa district in 1880. Mr. Buchanan married in 1892, Miss H. Motley, daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. McClay. The family moved to Birnie district 22 years ago. Surviving realtives are his wife, three daughters: Mrs. E. Smith of Yorkton,  Mrs. W. Kilburn of Melville, and Mrs. John Wigmore of Regina, and two sons: Will and Alex at home, also five brothers: T S of Melfort, Sam of Chilliwack, W David of Sumas, BC, and one sister, Mrs. G Graham of Rosedale. Mr. Buchanan was a member of the Orange Lodge. The funeral service was held at the home on Monday afternoon.  The Rev. G A Colpitts conducted. Interment was made in Rosedale Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Wm. Denoon, Les Birnie, Guy Scott, C H Bailey, V P Dewis, and E Henton. MARGARET A. BUCHANAN (Nee Jackson)
Margaret passed away peacefully in East View Lodge Monday, March 1st,1999. Margaret had just celebrated her 97th birthday in early February. Margaret was born on her parents' farm in the Osprey District, February 5,1902. Margaret was predeceased by husband Sam in May of 1980, also her oldest son, Deryle in 1929, in infancy. Margaret was also predeceased by her brother Halley in 1982, a sister Gertie in 1996 and 2 sisters and one brother in infancy. Her father Harry Jackson passed away in 1937 and her mother Annie, in 1938.
Margaret will be sadly missed by 3 sons, Merv and Mary May of Neepawa, Gerald and friend Norma Reid of Neepawa and Ron and Ponna of Winnipeg. She is survived by eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren end sister Nellie of Winnipeg.
Funeral service was held from White's Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 5, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Joe Ball officiating. Cremation had taken place and a private family committal took place at Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa, prior to the funeral service.
 

MELVIN ELMER BUCHANAN (SONNY)
On Friday, March 18, 1994, Melvin Elmer Buchanan peacefully passed away, with family at his side, at the Grace General Hospital Winnipeg at the age of 78 years.
The only son of Johnny and Eva Buchanan, Sonny was born in Neepawa, MB, November12, 1915, where he was raised and attended school.
In 1939 Dad enlisted is he army and became a Queens Own Cameron Highlander. He served five years overseas and was part of the raid of Dieppe. Upon his return, he married Rita Budd on July 29, 1944. They have lived in St. James 41 years where they raised their family of three Darlene, Bonnie and Wayne.
After discharge from the army, Dad briefly worked for a contractor and Parkhill Bedding before making his career with the Ministry of transportation at the Winnipeg International Airport. In 1976, after 24 years of service, he chose early retirement at the age of 60. Retiring meant new adventures like snowmobiling from Dauphin to the farm and ice-fishing at The Pas and time to enjoy walks. He liked nothing better than to visit his family and friends and travel. He played many a great game of crib.
Dad could build or fix anything. He was right in his glory puttering in his workshop and garden. His yard and flowers were impeccable, with neighbours and strangers alike stopping to admire them and ask him questions. The farm too was always a special place to be. He enjoyed life to its fullest, often saying, "I'm busier now than ever", and laugh.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved Rita; daughters, Darlene Perrett and husband Leonard of Neepawa, Bonnie Gagawchuk and husband Bill (Jess) of East Braintree, MB; and his only son Wayne of Winnipeg. He was so proud of his grandchildren Darcee-Lea Gagawchuk, Mitchell and Lindsay Perrett. Missing his company will be his special Aunt Lizzie Buchanan of Neepawa, nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins, friends and neighbours. Dad was predeceased by his parents and only sister Edna Jasper and brother-in-law Bill.
Our family wishes to thank the wonderful nursing staff in I.C.U. at the Grace for their care of Dad these past six days. Also to Daphne Maye for being there for us.

PHYLLIS MARJORIE (ROGERS) BUCHANAN
Phyllis Marjorie Buchanan of Souris passed away suddenly at the age of 69 on April 27 2000 from cancer at the home of her daughter Colleen She was born on February 28,1931 in Brandon, MB. Predeceased by her husbands Jack and Bill, mother Emma and stepfather Virgil and brother Jim.
     Left to cherish her memories are son Dave (Dianne), daughters Kim (George) Braun of Arden and Colleen (Doug) Crampain of Souris' two brothers Fletcher and Wally (Lana); six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews end her loving pet Chi-Chi.
     Phyllis was raised in Carberry, moved to Neepawa until the loss of her husband Jack. She then married Bill and lived in Arden. She had numerous jobs in Neepawa and later retired in Souris. She was a member of the Orange Lodge in Neepawa; Rebekah's in Neepawa and Souris, the U.C.W. group in Souris. Mom's greatest enjoyments were camping and fishing with the family, cooking a great feast for a family gathering, and fixing up her home in Souris, crocheting and knitting and playing the piano.
     A great many thanks to Dr. Cram and staff of Souris and thanks to Don and Leona for their help and support.
Funeral Service was held in the Neepawa United Church, Neepawa on Monday May 1, 2000 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Joe Ball officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa beside her husband Bill.

RITA PEARL (BUDD) BUCHANAN  (wife of Melvin Elmer Buchanan)
On Saturday, November 5, 1994, Rita Pearl Buchanan peacefully passed away with her family at her side at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 72 years.
Mum was the second oldest daughter of Ethel and James Budd. She was born at Souris, Man. 29 June, 1922 and raised at Glenella, Man. with the rest of her siblings
Mum came to Winnipeg in wartime and worked at Victoria Leather until our Dad returned from overseas. They were married at Fort Osborne Barracks, 29 July, 1944 They resided in St. James for 46 years raising their family of three, Darlene, Bonnie and Wayne. She worked a Eatons in Ladies Shoes, Polo Park for 24 year retiring 14 August, 1992.
She was that special Mum, always, there for her family, making you feel special. She gave us unconditional love and because of it we love her dearly. She liked to camp and travel with our Dad and did so for many years in Canada and the United States. Mum kept a diary of the daily happenings of herself, family and friends, even the weather! There weren't three grandchildren cherished more than Darcee, Mitchell and Lindsay.
Mum leaves such fond memories for daughters Darlene Perrett and husband Leonard of
Neepawa, Man., Bonnie Gagawchuk and husband Bill (Jess) of East Braintree, Man.; her beloved only son Wayne of Winnipeg, Man.; her grand-children, Darcee-Lea Gagawchuk and Mitchell and Lindsay Perrett. Mum lost her beloved husband Melvin Elmer Buchanan (Sonny) on March 18,1994, also predeceased by her parents, two sisters and one brother. Missing her company will be her sister Louise and husband Lloyd Patterson; niece Mae and family; Our special Auntie Lizzie Buchanan; her brothers, her brothers Alvin, Melvin and Archie, and their families; and many special friends she’s kept throughout the years.
Our family wishes thank the Doctors and Nurses in Observation and ICU at the Grace General Hospital for their care of our Mum. She always said “They treat you so well there.” Also the Doctors and Nurses for their efforts at I.C.U. and S.I.C.U. at the Sciences Centre.

RUTH (EDWARDS) BUCHANAN
 It is with great sadness that after a short, unexpected illness, we lost our mother grand-mother, and friend Evelyn Ruth Buchanan, suddenly on October 29 2000. Ruth was born in Ireland in 1921 and while she was a child moved to England with her family. During the Second World War she met and married Mervin (Bud) Buchanan and crossed the ocean by herself with a baby in arm to a challenging new country. Mom was a strong person that met each challenge head on. She was predeceased by her husband and her daughter-in-law Dawne Buchanan. She is survived by her four sons Gerry, Dan (Bonnie), Ross (Bev), Terry (Judy); her grandchildren, Todd (Krista), Tanis (Cayce Cook), Darci (Scott Forbes), [I can't identify the following people:] Tara (Sean Brownridge), Tyler, Kevin, Scott, Christine, Heather, Erin (Scott Chapman). She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren.
     In England she is survived by her four brothers, George (Pam), Ernie (Joyce), Bob (Margaret) Vincent ( Mavis), two sisters Chrissy and Rose (Tony); one brother-in-law Bill Sponder, and many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her sister Hetty.
     Ruth will be greatly missed by all her family. Many thanks to the staff on the 2nd floor of the Grace Hospital for the care they gave to Mom. A memorial service will be held Friday November 3, at 10:00 a.m. from Chapel Lawn

SELDON BUCHANAN
It was with sadness that the community learned of the Aug. 27 death in Regina, Sask. of Seldon Buchanan. A graveside interment service took place Aug. 31 at McCreary Municipal Cemetery Messages of condolence are extended to all members of the family in Regina and the McCreary area.

Sunday, Aug. 31 interment services at McCreary for Seldon Buchanan of Regina were conducted by his son Rev Allan Buchanan of Moose Jaw, Sask. Attending from Regina were widow Dora (Law) Buchanan and daughter Doreen Pretzlaw. Other family members were Gloria Thulien, Veteran, Alta; June (Glen) Seeman, Lamman; Lydia (Vern) Duncan and family, Midale; son Ken and Miriam Buchanan, Torst, Minn., and Darlene, wife of Rev Allan Buchanan. Returning home Sunday were Allan and Darlene, Lydia and Vern, while other family members remained in the area to Sept. l.

Marciski, Dale, Gina and Geoffrey Marciski of Winnipeg and Pam and Taylor Sul of Alonsa. Joanne and Gordon Bennea of Dauphin were visitors with Clarence Law on Aug. 31 and
also attended the graveside service for Seldon Buchanan.
 

BIRTHS: TARYN MARY JEAN BUCHANAN
First time parents Shawn and Nancy Buchanan of McCreary are pleased to announce the arrival of their 7 Ib.11-1/4 oz. daughter, Taryn Mary Jean, who was born August 23, 2000 in Dauphin. Proud grandparents are James and Tina Lambourne of Alonsa & Milton and Jean Buchanan of McCreary, and great grandma Mary Whyte of McCreary.
 

GORDON ELLIS DAFOE
After a brief illness Gordon Dafoe passed away at Neepawa District Hospital on Thursday, January 21,1999, at the age of 87.
Gordon was born to Teddy and Margaret (Buchanan) Dafoe, February 9,1911, at Riding Mountain, MB. His tender years were in Riding Mountain but after the passing of his mother in 1919, he lived with his aunt Mary Jane Smith at Pleasantdale, SK. At the age of 12 he returned to Riding Mountain to live with his dad, Teddy. Gordon was never short for work from threshing, to clearing brush. Gordon found his calling in the bush. He was a true woodsman and axeman. His love for the outdoors was always predominant in his life. Gordon also worked for the Manitoba Hydro and Department of Highways. After his retiring from the Department of Highways he returned to what he enjoyed, cutting cordwood. Gordon led very active retirement years. He bicycled to his son Bill's house everyday for years to lend a hand. His garden was looked after faithfully with endless pails of berries for homemade pies and jams.
Grandpa was philosopher, he had a sixth sense when it came to troubles. Many a time he would help ease our problems with a simple sentence, which would put our lives into perspective. He possessed a rational calmness, which was God's gift to us. We feel truly blessed to have had a man like that in our lives.
Though Grandpa had no denomination he had an extremely strong faith in God. He will be fondly remembered for quoting out of the Bible. Grandpa had special attributes in kindness. A favourite saying was: "Never a lender nor a borrower be." He did not live by this saying especially to his grandchildren. Many a time we would head to Grandpa's for a bit of gas, for our toys, to borrow tools or for just a bit of pocket change. He was so genuinely kind.
Grandpa accepted everybody at face value and never turned anyone away. He was a dedicated people person. He loved to visit with everyone. Grandpa was a very truthful person, mild mannered and high spirited.
God lent us this kindred spirit. For this we are ever grateful:
Gordon married Viola Henry in 1936. They celebrated their 62nd Anniversary on September 27,1998. Grandpa loved Grandma dearly. His love for Grandma was evident every time he looked at her. To his final days Grandma was "the Love of His Life."
Predeceased by his father Teddy in 1947, mother Margaret (Buchanan) in 1919, two brothers, Arthur killed in action in Italy 1943, and an infant brother who died in 1918.
He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Viola, his only daughter Marie, sons Bobby {Janette), Billy (Heather), Art (Marianne), Roy (Sharon), grandchildren Gordie (Catriona), Diane (Ed), Brenda (Scott), Carrie (Doug), Jamie (Lorraine), Cathy (Danny), Connie (Kevin), Debbie (Craig), Jason, Colleen (Paul), Darlene (Len), great-grandchildren Cody, Emily and Ryan, his loving and caring sister Alma Buchanan (Howard) her daughter Joyce (Cy), numerous nephews and nieces which were all very special to him. Being a peaceful and quiet man, upon his request a memorial service will be held for family and friends.

WILLIAM (BILL) HENRY
William (Bill) died peacefully in his sleep on February 24, 1998 in Tsawwassen, B.C. He leaves behind his loving wife Eunice Henry (nee Tarry); daughters Doreen (Gary) Sutter of Keewatin, Ontario and Sharron Henry-Evans of Ladner, B.C.; grandchildren Linda (John) Borbridge, William (Carman) Evans, Laura (Carl) Sutter-Watral, Denys (Laurie) Evans; great-grandchildren Richard, Karen, Dustin, Breanne, Brittany, Daniel and Derek.
Bill and his wife Eunice resided in Neepawa from 1941 to 1956 where he worked for Toastmaster-McGavin, formerly Canada Bread. He was a volunteer fire chief, a founding member of the Neepawa Golf Course; a member of the Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge.
Memorial service was held Monday March 2, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Fraser Heights Funeral Home, 14835 Fraser Highway Surrey B.C. [possibly an in-law of Mabel Watson Henry].

ROSS ALEXANDER HOWATT
Ross was born March 11,1912 to Lewis and Georgina Howatt, In 1938 he married Lillian Hunter and they had four children. Ross was predeceased by Lillian in 1963. In 1969 he married Daphne Seeking. They lived on the farm at Edrans, MB until his battle with cancer became too painful. He was hospitalized in Neepawa and then moved to Eastview Lodge where he resided until his passing. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Stanley, two sisters Beatrice Sedgwick and Murtle Howatt. Ross is survived by his wife Daphine of Eastview Lodge; his four children Josie (Harvey) Hill, Gardenton; George (Doreen) Howatt, Neepawa; David Howatt, Brandon; Richard (Janis) Howatt, Yorkton; his 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; his sister Leona Feller, Ont.; his sister-in-law Connie Seekings, Neepawa.
Funeral service was held from White's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Cargo officiating with interment in Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa.

WALTER RICHARD HOWATT
May 7, 1951- April 20, 2000
Richard passed away suddenly at his home in Yorkton, SK. He was born in Neepawa and was educated there. After school he moved to Snow Lake, Flin Flon, then to Yorkton.
     Richard was predeceased by his parents Ross and Lillian Howatt. Richard was a loving father to his four children: Jenny, Kyle, Drew, and Reed. He also leaves to mourn his passing sister Josie (Harvey) Hill, his brothers George (Doreen) Howatt and David Howatt, close friends John Stampe and Trish McDonald, his aunt Bessie Arnold, nieces nephews and cousins.
     Cremation has taken place. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Neepawa. Rest in peace Richard.

GEORGE RUSSEL HUNTER
It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of George Hunter, age 89 years, at East View Lodge. He was predeceased by his mother, father, five brothers and two sisters.
He will be sadly missed by his only remaining sister Bessie Arnold, several nieces and nephews.
He was a faithful member of the Knox Presbyterian Church, The Oddfellows and Rebekah Lodges which gave him great pleasure.
The funeral took place at the Knox Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Gladys Anderson officiating. Pallbearers were his nephews Harold Hunter, John Hunter, Delmer Hunter, Dale Hunter, Scott Hunter, and Karl Snezyk.
Interment at the Riverside Cemetery.
The family of George Hunter are grateful for the cards, food and donations sent to the Neepawa Hospital Palliative Care when he passed away and also for the good care and kindness shown George by the East View Lodge staff while he resided there and the Heather Club for serving lunch, White's Funeral Home, Rev. Anderson and choir of the Knox Presbyterian Church.
 

GEORGE DOUGLAS   KITSON
     Suddenly on July 16,  2000, George Douglas   Kitson passed away while attending a family reunion at Gladstone,
 Manitoba.
    Doug was born January 11, 1932 in Neepawa Hospital to Jack and Eleanor (Dolly) Kitson. He attended Franklin and Neepawa area schools. After completing his education he joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1951. He trained in Regina and Ottawa serving in B.C. and Ottawa for six years. During this time he played in the R.C.M.P Band for the musical ride. In 1957 he returned home to farm with his dad. On April 18,1959 Doug married Joan Griffith at the Neepawa United Church. They resided in Franklin, Manitoba. This union was blessed with four children.
    Doug had many accomplishments in his life. In 1947, at the age of 15, Doug placed second, winning the Western Canadian Curling Championships representing Manitoba. He also had a fondness for music. Besides playing the piano he played the trumpet with the Neepawa Lions Club Band serving for a time as assistant bandmaster. In the
seventies while the Neepawa Barbershoppers were active, he was a member
     For many years he took an avid interest in the Manitoba Pool Elevators, serving 29 years on Franklin Pool Board, 22 of those as secretary and 20 years as district delegate.
    Doug worked on many winter works construction crews, often as active foreman. In 1987 Doug became a driver education instructor for Neepawa Area Collegiate Institute. He worked with this until he was forced to retire due to illness.
    Doug had a sincere interest in the church. In the Franklin United Church he was active on the board and as organist. Later he became a member of the choir and the Knox Presbyterian Church in Neepawa.
An organization Doug was very interested in was the Elks Lodge #398. He served as Exalted Ruler for the past two years. During his life Doug had many hobbies among which were curling, carpentry, camping, and reading. One of his early interests was flying and he received his private pilot's license from the Neepawa flying Club in 1958.
    Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife Joan; his daughter Heather (Peter) Behrens of Brandon, MB, granddaughters Janelle, Angela, and Jody; son Brian (Kelli) Kitson of Oxdrift, Ont., granddaughter Lee-Anne and grandsons Jace and Trey; son Kevin (Derena) Kitson of Franklin, MB, grandsons Justin and Joshua and grand-daughter Joni; son Trevor (Naleen) Kitson of Neepawa, MB and grandson Tanner. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Eleanor (Dolly) Kitson.
     He will be sadly missed by special cousin Myrna Shutko (Ed) and family; brothers-in-law Stuart Milne, Douglas (Jean)Griffith;   sisters-in-law Jean Hunter (Peter); Berniece Smith, and Joyce Welbourne and families. Also many cousins and friends.
 

DAVID JAMES WATSON
DAVID JAMES WATSON, 88, of Riding Mountain, Man., died Tuesday in Lady Minto Nursing home, Minnedosa. Born in Listowel, Ont., he moved to the Spring Hill district  with  his family in 1879 and three years later to Riding Mountain where he had farmed. He was a member the Masonic lodge. Surviving are two sons, J. A. Watson of Burlington, Ont. and D. B. Watson Wellington, Ont.; one daughter, Mrs. J. L. Henry of Riding Mountain. His wife died several years go. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the United Church, Riding Mountain, Rev. N. Macintosh officiating. The Neil Funeral home of Kelwood is in charge.
 

MARGARET JANE (ALLAN) WATSON
On Friday, February 34, 1978 at the Portage General Hospital, Mrs. Margaret Watson, 67 years, beloved wife of Elgin Watson, of 25-4th Street N.W., Portage la Prairie.
Funeral service conducted by Pastor Charles Postal will he held Tuesday, February 28 at 1:30 pm. in the Trimble Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow In Tupper Cemetery, Plumas.
Mrs. Watson was born at Glenella on May 5, 1910, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Allan. In 1923 she moved to Rignold District where she married Elgin Watson on July 9, 1927.
Besides her loving husband Elgin, she is survived by one son Melvin, and one daughter Joyce and son-in-law Bill Offredi, all of Portage la Prairie; 2 grandchildren Allen, and Cindy Offredi; three sisters: Mrs. M. Smith (Edna) of Portage la Prairie, Mrs. C. Bray (Ella) of Macdonald, and Mrs. G. Demeria (Birdie) of Shawnigan; and two brothers: Frances Allan of Portage la Prairie and Melvin Allan of Winnipeg, also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father in 1943, her mother in 1974, and her brother Walter Allan in 1965.
If friends so desire, contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Arrangements are by the Trimble Funeral Chapel, Ronald Moffit director.
 

WILLIAM ARNOLD WATSON
On Wednesday. April 6,1994 at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, Man., William Arnold Watson of Winnipeg and formerly of Portage la Prairie, passed away at the age of 79 years.
Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Omega Funeral Home, Portage la Prairie on Saturday, April 9th at 1:30 p.m. with Mr. Jim Gilmour officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Arnold was born on August 25, 1914 at Plumas, Man., son of the late William and Mary Watson. He was raised and received his education at Plumas. In 1930 the family moved to MacDonald where he helped his parents on the farm. In 1955 he married Anne Dyck and they resided in Portage where he was employed by the City of Portage la Prairie until his illness made it so that he couldn't work.  In 1962 the family moved to Winnipeg where Arnold took odd jobs and has since resided there. In 1932 at Portage la Prairie, Arnold accepted Jesus as his Saviour. Arnold did a lot of volunteer work in the senior complex where he has lived for he past 11 years. He was a generous man and was known to always lend a helping hand.
Predeceased by his parents and one sister Edna Watson, he leaves to mourn his passing one son Daniel of Australia; two daughters, Ruth Hykaway of Winnipeg, Eunice Rochon of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Charlene, Susan, Richard, Lori-Ann; great-granddaughter Kaylee. Also surviving are three brothers, Alvin, Glen and sister-in-law Lottie, all of Portage, Vernon of Vancouver, B.C.; two sisters, Phoebe Watson of Portage, Ada and brother-in-law Sam Williams of Austin, Man. and several nieces, nephews and Anne.
Friends may call at the funeral home for visitation on Friday (this evening) from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00p.m.

DOROTHY VIOLA (BUCHANAN) WILLIMENT
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our wife, mother and grandmother, Dorothy Williment on April 21, 2000 at the McCreary Hospital with all her family at her side.
     Born September 22,1935 in Miami Hospital, Dorothy received all her education in Miami, MB.
     On February 16,1954 Dorothy wed Walter Williment. They lived in Neepawa for a short period of time. They then moved to Arden, from there they moved to Norgate and then to Reeve in 1962 where their farming career began. They continued to farm in the Reeve area until then retirement when they moved to McCreary in 1984. They then purchased a motor home, which allowed them to travel various places in Canada and the U.S.A. Her talents were unlimited, as she enjoyed crocheting, making several afghans, quilting, sewing and gardening. She also loved
attending bingo with her husband and friends.
     Dorothy was also involved in many community activities such as U.C W. hospital aid and ladies' auxiliary. Besides her community activities she always made time for her family.
 Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her husband Walter of 46 years, daughter Joan Whyte (Allan) of McCreary; son Brian Williment (Marie) and daughter Darlene (Ledoux) McCreary. She will be sadly missed by grandchildren, Tracy Chubey (Dale), Theresa Kohlman (Clayton), Bradly Williment, Jarvis Whyte, Kristin and Travls Ledoux all of McCreary. Dorothy was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Dylan Chubey and Mykayla Kohlman both of McCreary. She also leaves to mourn sister Ethel Pfiel (Hank) of McCreary; sister Edna Hurlbert ot Selkirk, MB and brother Bill Buchanan of Winnipeg; And many friends and relatives too numerous to mention. Dorothy was predeceased by her father Alexander in 1962; her mother Lily in 1972 and brothers, Lyle in 1992 and Russell in 1998.
     Service to be held at the McCreary United Church 2:00 p.m Tuesday, April 25 with Rev.  Colin Grambo officiating. Interment to follow at the McCreary Municipal Cemetery.
   In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
